My Services

I bring a warmth and friendliness to my work with children, partnering with parents, schools, and providers in the community. I translate findings into meaningful recommendations and interventions for the children and families I work with.

With a strong developmental focus and compassion, my goal is to put the pieces of the puzzle together to create understanding and a pathway forward. My joy comes when the children I work with grow in their self-knowledge, using their strengths to work through their challenges and grow in advocating for themselves to experience their full potential.

Consultation and evaluations

I provide parent consultations, school observations, and evaluations. Following evaluation, I also attend school meetings, when requested and whenever possible.

Evaluations range from intellectual assessments for school admissions (e.g. WPPSI-IV, WISC-V, WAIS-IV) to more comprehensive assessments including cognitive processing (e.g. attention, processing speed, executive functioning, memory, visual and auditory processing, fine motor coordination, language, sensory processing), academic achievement, and social-emotional development.

Assessments are individualized for each child depending upon the referral questions.

common referral questions:

•What is my child’s learning profile of strengths and challenges?

•Why is my child not working up to their potential and how can they become more successful? Are there any classroom accommodations or interventions that would be helpful in overcoming challenges?

•How come I understand the material, but my test scores don’t reflect my grasp of the content? What will help me to show what I’m really capable of?

•Why is my child having difficulty focusing and following directions, and what can we do?

•Why is my child unable to complete their work or tests in the time provided, and would extended time be recommended?

•Why is my child having difficulty making or keeping friends and what more can we do?

*Why is there a disconnect between my child’s rich ideas and their ability to get them down on paper, and how can we help them to grow in this area?

•Why was I able to be successful in high school but those skills aren’t translating into success in college?

typical areas of concern:

School admission testing • Academic placement goodness-of-fit • Learning disorders (reading, written expression, math, atypical learning issues) • Academic underachievement • ADHD • Executive functioning (weak organization, planning, initiation, strategic and efficient multistep problem solving) • Processing speed • Social Pragmatic Language • Autism Spectrum Disorder • Anxiety • Depression • Confidence • Self Esteem • Perfectionism, Developmental and educational sequelae to medical events (e.g. concussion, premature birth, cardiac issues) • Giftedness • Uneven development • Social difficulties • Sibling of child with diagnosed condition • Monitoring response to interventions • Kindergarten readiness

Financial arrangements

A brief, initial telephone consultation, if needed, is free of charge.

Services are billed at an hourly rate and payable at time of service.

For evaluations, the fee is estimated and agreed upon during the initial intake appointment. This amount is paid prior to the first testing appointment.

Sometimes, either because a student is working very slowly or additional testing is needed to address the referral questions, additional professional service time is required. If this occurs, it is discussed with the child’s parents and agreed upon and paid prior to the parent conference.

Check and credit cards are accepted (Visa, Mastercard, Discover). A 3% transaction fee is added to credit card payment.

Insurance

I do not accept insurance. Upon request, an insurance-ready statement, which you can submit for possible reimbursement, will be provided at the conclusion of the evaluation. If you plan to seek reimbursement, it is recommended that you contact your insurance company in advance to determine the extent of your coverage for psychological evaluations.
